i always feel so cleansed after things like this
I’m very into simplifying my life right now. (Except most of the time, my life hates me and won’t let me do it.)

In that spirit, I did a spur-of-the-moment friends cut in the early hours of this morning. It was radical in terms of how many I cut, but not radical in terms of who I cut. It was basically just people who haven’t updated in more than six months, and/or people I haven’t spoken to in forever. It was still difficult, though, because I’m quite a maudlin person, and some of those cut were people I knew from my first days in fandom back on YTDaW. But the time had come.

Nevertheless, if you’re reading this and feel you’ve been treated unfairly, by all means, make yourself known.

But enough of the sad stuff. NEW PROFILE. Because I finally accepted that it was out of hand. Not because I wanted an excuse to use that picture. It has basically been pared down to the things that are currently relevant to my interests. (All my current movies have Gwyneth Paltrow in them. I refuse to acknowledge that this is anything but a coincidence.) Yes, yes, yes, with the little tiny picture thingies. I’m so original.

No, sweetie, you're perfectly safe. Thank you! :D

I am relieved not only to still be here, but by the fact that you kept the title of your LJ!!! It makes me smile every time I read it, and think of "Boston Legal." :D Yay!!!

You do fit that YTDaW description (you and ZenBridge were my favourite mods!), but you never had anything to worry about. You're always a shoo-in. *hugs*

Heee, thanks! I think that title's going to be sticking around a good while longer.

Thanks for keeping me despite the fact I have yet to do the letter G meme. Also, do you read? Have we talked about books? Are we friends at Goodreads? I think we are, but since I don't know your name there I'm not sure?

Which writers from Australia would you most recommend?
we ain't ashes: f | bttf | dendlesswonder on June 2nd, 2010 12:35 am (UTC)
You're welcome! Don't worry, that's not a cuttable offence, so you weren't in any danger. :D

I do! A lot! But I don't think we've had any discussions, no. I'm howlingfantods on Goodreads, and we are friends, but I'm not particularly active on the site. I basically just duck in and out to update when I start and finish a book.

I have to read more Peter Carey (he's won the Booker Prize twice), but his Oscar And Lucinda is one of my favourite books. Of course, there's Schindler Ark by Thomas Keneally.Tim Winton's quite good, too. (I'm having trouble thinking of any author who I've read more than one book for, which is fairly embarrassing. Every time I think I'm widely read, I discover I'm not.) But that's a start anyway.

Ah, I have Oscar and Lucinda on my waiting-to-read shelf right now. A friend gave it to me. I'm not very active at Goodreads either -- but it is good to know that there's a place to go to find lists of books to read, already read by people with whom you share a sensibility.

I'm a huge fan of Sarah Waters & would recommend her stuff if you've not read it.

Oh, cool. It is, it's such a clever site.

I haven't, but I've always been meaning to, so I'll have to hit the library. Thanks for the rec!

I LOVE THAT PROFILE PICTURE. I REBLOGGED IT ON TUMBLR AND I ALMOST WANT TO REBLOG IT AGAIN. D'YA THINK THAT'S POSSIBLE?

IKR? I HAVE MY PROFILE OPEN IN A BROWSER TAB JUST SO I CAN KEEP LOOKING AT IT. AND I CAN'T LIE, I FINALLY DECIDED TO CHANGE MY PROFILE BECAUSE I DECIDED I JUST HAD TO HAVE THAT PICTURE ON MY LJ. I, FOR ONE, WOULD NOT OBJECT AT ALL TO YOU REBLOGGING IT AGAIN.

Paltrow. My husband and I were smiling about Shallow Hal over the week-end, actually. Which probably shows an abysmal lack of taste. But the movie made me smile and laugh, and I thought Gwyneth was great in it.

Awesome. It's weird - I'd seen her in a few things over the years, and I'd thought she was good, but she'd never really made a big impression on me. But when I finally watched Iron Man, it triggered something in me, and now I'm watching anything I can get my hands on. (Including Shakespeare In Love, which is now my favourite movie of all time.)
